Printio lets you print your files at a nearby shop, without carrying a USB stick or emailing anyone. You upload the file from your phone, the shop receives it, and prints it. That's the whole idea.

Your file is encrypted the moment you upload it, and no one sees it except the shop you chose, until your order is printed. About an hour after that, we delete it for good.

You don't need a phone number to place an order, and payment is cash when you pick up your printout at the shop. If you'd rather not wait the hour, you can delete your file yourself as soon as it's printed.

What we ask for

If you create an account: your name and email, a phone number only if you choose to add one, and a password we store in a way even we can't read.

If you order as a guest without an account: the name you type in, a phone number if you'd like, and a 6-digit access code that protects your order. We store that code the same unreadable way.

The file itself, and the print options you pick: color, copies, pages, paper size.

Your order's details: its number, status, price, and the time of each step.

A scrambled version of your device's internet address (not the address itself) and your browser type, to stop abuse.

A simple record of who opened your file and when, so we can trace any problem if one ever comes up.

Why we ask for it

Only to set up your account if you want one, fulfil your order, get your file to the shop you chose so it can be printed, and keep your account safe from abuse. Nothing else. We don't sell it, and we don't share it beyond that.

How we protect your file

The moment your file arrives, we encrypt it with a key made just for it. We hold that key, not you, so we're not a service where nobody but you can ever reach your file. What we don't do is use that key to browse. Your file only unlocks when you, or the shop printing it, ask for it. That request goes through a link made just for that one file, valid for a few minutes, and we log every time it's used.

The shop you order from sees only your own order's files, nothing else. We keep our data and your files on servers in Europe, the way any online service relies on a hosting provider, and we keep an encrypted backup in case of a technical failure.

When it's time to delete a file, the first thing we do is destroy its key, not just mark it deleted. After that, there's no way to open it again, even if the encrypted bytes linger on disk a moment longer.

When your file is deleted

Normally: about an hour after the shop marks your order printed.

If no shop accepts your order: within 24 hours of upload.

If a shop accepts your order right near that 24-hour mark: it gets at least 4 more hours to print before deletion.

You never have to wait for any of that: you can delete your file yourself at any point after it's printed.

We keep the order's own details (its number, status, price) so you can look back at your order history. It's only the file we delete.

You can ask us at any time to tell you what we hold about you, or to correct it. Reach us through the contact details on our homepage and we'll help.

If you ask us to delete your account, we deactivate it and remove your name everywhere it appears. A few basic records stay in our systems a while longer, the way most services keep basic history.

If you run a shop

If you run a shop on Printio, we also keep your shop's name, address, phone number, email, and prices, the same details shown on your shop's public page. When a customer's file reaches you, you're responsible for handling it lawfully once you've received it; see our Terms of Service for your full obligations.
