The short version
Printio exists so you can print without handing anyone your file, your phone, or your trust for longer than you have to. Every file is encrypted the moment it arrives, only the shop printing it and you can ever see it, and it is destroyed — not just marked deleted — within about a day if never accepted, or an hour after it's printed.
What we collect
If you create an account: your name, email address, and password (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text).
If you upload as a guest: the name you type in, and the files themselves. No account, no password, no email required.
For every order, either way: the files you upload, your print preferences (color, copies, sides), and basic order metadata — order number, timestamps, and price.
Standard technical data every web request carries: a hashed version of your IP address (used only for rate-limiting and fraud prevention, never stored or shown in plain form) and your browser's user agent.
How your files are protected
Every file is encrypted individually the moment it finishes uploading, using AES-256-GCM with a key generated just for that file. Nobody — including us — can read a file without that key.
When a file is deleted, we destroy its encryption key first, before we ever touch the file itself on disk. Once the key is gone, the file is unrecoverable — even if the encrypted bytes somehow survived on disk a moment longer, there's nothing left that can turn them back into your document.
When your files are deleted
If a shop never accepts your order, your files are deleted automatically about 24 hours after you upload them.
If a shop accepts your order right at that 24-hour mark, the deadline extends by a few hours from the moment of acceptance rather than cutting your files off mid-print — but a shop that never prints your order still loses access to it on a bounded schedule, not an indefinitely extended one.
Once a shop marks your order as printed, your files are deleted within one hour — the common case, and the fastest path.
You can also delete your files yourself at any time before they're printed, from your order's tracking page.
What we don't delete: your account, if you have one, and basic order records — order number, status, timestamps, and price. We keep these because you may want your own order history, and because we're required to keep some record of transactions. We never keep the files themselves beyond what's described above.
Who can see your files
Only you (or the guest session that placed the order) and the shop printing that specific order can ever access a file — never any other customer, any other shop, or Printio staff browsing at will. Every access is logged: who looked, when, and from where, in an audit trail we cannot edit or delete.
Where your data is stored
Printio's servers are located in Germany. Encrypted backups of order and account data — never a file's readable contents — are stored with a European cloud storage provider, encrypted separately before they ever leave our server.
If you're in Turkey, this means your personal data is transferred outside the country to be processed. Under Turkish law (KVKK), we ask for your explicit, separate consent to this transfer — at registration if you create an account, or on the upload page itself if you place an order as a guest. Declining consent means we can't process your order.
Your rights
You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account, by contacting us through the details on our homepage. Because files are already deleted on the schedule described above, most requests about files themselves resolve automatically.
Print shops and your data
A print shop only ever sees the files and details of orders placed with that specific shop. See our Terms of Service for the obligations shops agree to when handling your files.
